At about 3:21 p.m., Officer Jimmy Johnson was dispatched to Johnson Avenue and Caraway Road in reference to a battery in progress. According to reports, when Johnson arrived the battery was taking place in a 2000 silver Chevrolet Cavalier. When he reached the car, Johnson made contact with the suspect, 26-year-old Brian Allen McKeller. Johnson noted that the suspect had blood on both hands and his knuckles were bleeding, in addition to small cuts on his left arm. Witnesses stated McKeller had been striking his female passenger with his fists and tried to shove her from the moving vehicle. McKeller was placed under arrest and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center. According to reports, McKeller stated on the way to the CCDC that he and the victim had been together for 10 years and had lived together in the past. It was also reported that McKeller stated that he wished he would have "stomped…[her] head into the pavement." McKeller was charged with 3rd degree domestic battery.
Jan. 29
Officer John Hammons was dispatched to University Hall in reference to harassment in progress. The victim, 19-year-old Rachel Wood, stated that the suspect, 20-year-old Austin Harris, was harassing her. According to reports, Woods stated that Harris, who is her ex-boyfriend, was harassing her, accusing her of cheating and would not give her cell phone back. Harris stated that he thought his girlfriend was cheating on him and they were just upset. Hammons obtained the phone and returned it to Woods, who stated that she did not want to talk to Harris. Harris was barred from University Hall for 24 hours and was informed if he returned in the 24 hours, he would be charged with criminal trespassing.
Jan. 30
At about 7:19 p.m., Officer Keith Johnson was dispatched to the North Parking Deck in reference to an accident. Upon arrival, Johnson spoke with the victim, 35-year-old Daniel Herrera from Manila, who stated that he parked his vehicle in the parking deck on the second level around 6:15 p.m. and when he returned he noticed the damage. According to reports, while Johnson noticed another vehicle couldn't have struck Herrera's. Johnson reported it appeared that the vehicle sideswiped the right side concrete wall exiting the parking garage on the east side. There was visible paint from the vehicle on the side of the wall where the vehicle had allegedly made contact.
