Rugby to host Dartmouth

Coming off of its first loss of the season, the ASU Rugby Club is gearing up to take on Dartmouth for its last home game of the season.

The Red Wolves are looking to avenge their 15-36 loss against Life Chiropractic University on March 6.

Like their match up against Life Chiropractic, Dartmouth will be a warm up game that will not affect the Red Wolves standings in the up and coming Sweet 16 Tournament.

The Red Wolves have received a bye in the Southern leg of the Sweet 16, and have been utilizing their down time by competing with men's super league teams to stay sharp before tournament play begins.

The Red Wolves are no strangers to men's super league teams. ASU took on the Dallas Harlequins on Feb. 6, defeating them 34-7 in Little Rock.

As it stands in the tournament, ASU will play the winner of the North Carolina-South Carolina game for the South tournament.

From there, the winner will go on to the Sweet 16, which has a similar set to the NCAA's Division 1 March Madness tournament.

While the Dartmouth Big Green will not be a game that affects ASU's schedule, head coach Matt Huckaby assures that they are not looking past Dartmouth to the tournament.

"Dartmouth is another warm-up game. They're bringing in a freshman/sophomore type of class, but we're going to treat it like it matters," Huckaby said. "We've got to get to the South."

Dartmouth ended its season recently when the Big Green was defeated 5-6 by Syracuse at West Point, NY last Saturday. The loss cost them a spot in the national round of the Sweet 16 next spring.

"Anytime you get an Ivy League school to Jonesboro, AR and get to play against them, that's a big deal," Huckaby said. "And they're a very classy team. So, that'll be neat for our guys to get to see the type of program that we're trying to run. We're happy to host them."

The Division 1 team's game will begin at 2 p.m. this Thursday at the ASU rugby field, and the second game will begin at 4 p.m.
