Why have an Arkansas lottery? It is morally opposed. The state could earn revenue other ways such as a food, cigarette and alcohol tax.
With a lottery the criminal activity in the state will rise; there is no gray area about crime. When those who gamble are left to their own devices and vices they will use all the money they can get their hands on even if they have to pawn belongings or steal.
Plus, it is typically individuals in the low to middle income range who are more likely to be pursued by the advertising strategy of "lady luck" or "lucky 7."
The play is on the poor to be caught by the idea that they can get rich quick if they gamble. Theoretically speaking, the economically poor struggle to afford insurance, to feed their families or to pay their bills. These people are more likely to lose than win with the lottery and will be in an even worse condition.
The economy is steadily going in a downward direction. Gas and food prices are steadily spiraling up. And the dollar is deteriorating. We will all be in the poor house if we don't play our cards right.
We need not gamble money and our future away. We must remember our true motto "give us your poor, your hungry and huddled masses yearning to breathe free," not "give us those who can be taken advantage of."
God bless the child that has its own, but you won't get something for nothing spending your money any way you want, but if you blow it, make a charitable donation. Donations can be made that go to a good cause in the community of this country.
You only roll one die, and that is the one fate gives you. When paying to gamble your future and money think twice.
