Our campus has seen many changes in recent years with the addition of new buildings and campus modifications.

In 1974, however, the major issue was deciding on the names of buildings. On November 15 of that year, an 8-member committee on building names began soliciting names for 11 buildings on campus by distributing ballots around campus.

The buildings to be named included the Agricultural Education, Fine Arts, Military Science, Physical Education, Graphic-Arts Journalism, Radio-Television, Lab Sciences and Administration Buildings.

Other facilities to be named included the old science building and state hall, which could not be readily identified, and Indian Stadium.

The committee attempted to incorporate the suggestions of students, faculty, administration and alumni. The deadline to submit the name suggestions to the board of trustees was set for December 31.

*Information was gathered from the November 15, 1974, issue of The Herald.
