 I would like to pick up and expand on a line in an editorial in The Herald several weeks ago about parking issues, when the author[s] noted that pedestrians also need to act responsibly. This is especially true, I submit, in an area, which will quite possibly see a tragedy in the future, unless something changes.

The investigation into the sexual assault at the PiKA house last Saturday morning has still not produced any leads, but a UPD police report has now provided full descriptions of both suspects.

The first suspect is described as 5-foot-11-inch African American male with a light complexion and a medium build.

Trustees discuss Promise Scholarship

The ASU board of trustees discussed several things during their meeting Friday morning at the ASU-Heber Springs campus, including the new the Arkansas Promise Scholarship and the offering of a new online associate's degree.

During his report to the board, ASU Chancellor Robert Potts said that the new Arkansas Promise Scholarship was intended to maximize the impact of the lottery scholarship.

Students protest tuition hikes and budget cuts

Students at The University of Memphis and elsewhere protested tuition hikes and slashing education budgets yesterday, organizing rallies and walkouts on campuses in 30 states.

To show their support for the protest, called a "Day of Action to Defend Public Education," The U of M Progressive Student Alliance collected signatures outside of the Tiger Den for a petition against an expected $26.

Small quakes prove New Madrid active

Recent small earthquakes this week have shown that the New Madrid fault is still an active seismic zone for potential natural disasters.

The largest earthquake, registering 3.7, occurred Tuesday at 1:37 p.m. in the New Madrid zone roughly 140 miles northeast of Memphis.
