World AIDS Day to create awareness in the South
There was a time when contracting HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, was widely considered a death sentence. But, with the development of effective antiretroviral drugs used to offset the effects of the disease and extend the lives of those who are infected, much of the fear surrounding HIV/AIDS has diminished, and there are many people who think that because of the area they live in or the groups they belong to, they are not at risk.

Students get week off for  Fall Break
This year ASU students will be receiving the entire holiday week off as usual, whereas complaints were widespread last year when classes were still in session for the Monday of the Thanksgiving week. Many students, specifically internationals, feel that the entire week off will not affect their preparation for final exams.

Across campus, a growing number of students are deciding to attend graduate school. Many students, however, have no idea how to get there. In fact, the process can seem daunting at times, with prospective students having to choose a school, fulfill enrollment requirements, in addition to obtaining the necessary funds to facilitate all tuition and expenses.


Muslims hold Hajj Awareness Day in preparation of holy holiday

Keynote speaker Abdel-Rahman El-Harby was the keynote speaker for Hajj Awareness Day held Wednesday night at Centennial Hall. Harby, the director of the Jonesboro Mosque, addressed those of the audience who were not members of the Nation of Islam. "I thank you all for coming to break the bond, and to break the prejudice to come and learn," he said.
