For the students nominated, the importance of being on homecoming court lies in the people they are representing, Garry Butler, a senior interdisciplinary studies major of North Little Rock, said. Butler said he represents young adults, some of which are friends from his hometown, who are not able to become involved in the ways ASU offers.

Beebe releases $4 million for new liberal arts building
It seems the drawing of a new liberal arts building on display in Wilson Hall may finally become a reality. Gov. Beebe released $4 million Saturday to ASU for construction of a new building for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He made the presentation during the annual Legislative Day luncheon at the Fowler Center and again during half-time of ASU's football game.


ASU partners in oral history project

ASU is bringing Arkansas history back to life with new history archives soon to be added at the Dean B. Ellis Library. Arkansas State University has partnered with the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and the University of Texas, El Paso, to conduct oral histories concerning the Bracero History Project.

Shooting on campus A Little Rock man was charged in the weekend shooting on the ASU campus that sent one student to the hospital, university officials said. Patrick Rice, 21, was arrested Saturday night on charges of second-degree battery and possession of firearms on school property, a Craighead County Detention Center, CCDC, official said.
