Pink bras and ribbons hung up all over campus, students dressed in pink and pink rubber duckies in the Chi Omega water fountain: all of these events were a part of ASU's Breast Cancer Awareness Week, which ends Friday.

Organizations such as Colleges Against Cancer, CAC, planned a week full of events, which also included a bake sale. The bake sale featured pink cupcakes, as well as breast cancer awareness fact sheets. CAC, which is also known as the American Cancer Society, raised around $200 going toward the organization, CAC President Kyle Fulton said.

A speaker also came Wednesday night to inform people of how to check for breast cancer and testicular cancer.

"We are extremely glad ASU has taken notice of what we're doing and gladly willing to help us out," Fulton said.

ASU's women soccer team has also helped raise awareness. The team members participated in "Think Pink: Playing for Cancer Research."

Members wore pink jerseys, which they autographed, during their home games last Friday and Sunday at the ASU Soccer Complex. The team's game jerseys are currently being auctioned off.

The auction began Oct. 3 and will close Oct. 10 with 50 percent of the proceeds to go to the Jonesboro affiliate of the Arkansas Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. There are 21 pink game jerseys, and so far only two people have placed bids.

The check will be presented at the beginning of next week, according to Coach Derek Pittman. He said the other 50 percent of the proceeds would go to the soccer program.

"I can't take credit for the original idea. It's been done before," Pittman said. He said he was happy he and the rest of the soccer program got behind the great cause for breast cancer research. He also said tons of individuals have been touched, and he is very happy with the auction.

"I'm so excited to be apart of it," Meghan Mace, a freshman health promotions major of Franklin, Tenn., said.

Mace, who is the team's forward midfielder, said the team is trying to make "Think Pink" an annual event.

"I love the idea of the pink jerseys," Mace said.

Mace's aunt has had pre-cancer, but it did not transition into breast cancer.

"I'm very excited to be a part of it. We're all really close, and I love it," Tracy Powell, a freshman engineering major of Little Rock, said.
