Moot Court leaves its mark at competition

Officials at Texas Tech University School of Law have their eyes on a few A-State students. Three of the top four teams in the Southwestern Regional Moot Court Championship were teams from ASU, and as team coach Hans Hacker said, "They know who we are at Texas Tech; that much is certain.

More than 20 petitions are circulating campus to make ASU a smoke-free campus. Views on the petitions are mixed, and what really does a smoke-free campus mean?

Aside from the known health risks, a recent Centers for Disease Control study reported smoking-related illnesses cost the nation more than $157 billion annually.

SGA's passed legislation of removing access from Facebook, MySpace and YouTube on the 2nd-8th floors of the Dean B. Ellis Library is still in the works of being passed through the administration and will not be active this semester.

As we look back, this semester has been one to remember. ASU officially became the Red Wolves. We watched our new mascot, Howl, run through the smoke and introduce himself at the first home football game.

We also watched the United States of America elect the first black president after perhaps the longest ever presidential campaign.

Since I have come to Arkansas State University, my attention has been constantly drawn to the Greek Community. What has really shocked me is the complete lack of creativity in deciding punishments for the different groups.

One fraternity was put on social probation when a member hit an individual on the head with a chair.

Randal Lauderdale, 21, of Jonesboro was arrested for warrants and criminal trespassing. Officer Bill Brown was called to Kays Hall at 3 a.m. after an unknown man was found sleeping on the ninth floor couches. Brown said he attempted several times to get Lauderdale's name and social security number, but Lauderdale kept giving fake ones.

Raffo takes over as head coach

C-SPAN bus makes stop in Jonesboro

Logging more than 5,000 hours of campaign coverage since the beginning of the 2008 Presidential Campaign, the C-SPAN campaign bus made a stop by ASU Wednesday afternoon.

C-SPAN gave bus tours and described the bus' purpose to both students and faculty. The bus, which is one of two campaign buses owned by C-SPAN, traveled all over the country to cover political events such as the Iowa Caucus and the Democratic National Convention.

SGA plans "Home for the Holidays"
